I haven't yet managed to locate a photo of Lt. William Morehead.  Here are two newspaper articles, dated October, 1944 and September, 1945.  I wonder who the "recently liberated glider pilot" might have been.

Hi Gang
I bet the recently liberated glider pilot was David O. Coletrane. He was in the 14th and flew into Holland with Morehead and was taken prisoner. I have no proof of this but it would stand to reason that Coletrane could have seen Morehead get shot. The story I have always heard is that Morehead and Collette flew into each other on the LZ and were killed. I guess we now have a new story.
I had a light hearted disagreement with Charley Day of the glider pilots assoc. for a time about Coletrane. The glider pilot data base had Coletrane as KIA, but I checked every resource I had and could not find him as killed. I could not prove my point but I remained true to my belief that he was not KIA. I then asked the author of this post, Tom Martin, to see what he could dig up. Shortly after my request, Tom emailed me the same type of article as the ones listed here telling that his mother had been notified by the Red Cross that her son was a POW. Tom proved my point for me and as you can see here, Tom is "The Man" when you need to find answers. Thanks Tom!
Cheers......Randy

Hi Gang
I may have spoken too soon yesterday. There was a Howard Breeden and a Aubrey Belew also taken prisoner on the 18th so I suppose it could have been either of them as well.
Cheers.......Randy

Here are two photos of William H Morehead.  A positive identification was made by his nephew.

The color photo was cropped from a group photo taken by F/O Lloyd J Bloomstine, 14th TCS, which was generously shared by his wife and son.  Thanks.

The B/W photo was cropped from the 1943 14th TCS photo taken at Pope Field, Ft. Bragg, NC.
