'Here's what I found today: (the article did not say Keokuk, Iowa, but that is the city Lotsy was living in, so I added it).
From the Clark County Courier Jan. 19, 1945 Volume # 20
Stanley Wells is Reported Killed
(Keokuk Gate City)
Mrs. Lotsy Wells, 1529 Des Moines street, Keokuk, Iowa, learned Jan. 11, that her son, S. Sgt. Stanley R. Wells, 22, was killed on Dec. 19, in England, where he was stationed with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Word was received here by Mrs. Wells indirectly from the Keokuk soldier's British bride of only a few weeks, the former Miss Gladys Taylor of St. Giles, Lincoln, England. They were married on Nov. 23, 1944, and a picture of them taken after their marriage has also just been received here along with the news of Sgt. Wells' death. Besides his mother here, Sgt. Wells has a sister, Dorothy Wells, at home; and a brother Eston Wells, S 1-c, serving with the navy in the Pacific. Another sister, Mrs. Ida Frances Hayden, died about six years ago. '
