*Major Jerry survived the crash of 609 with little injury. With heroic devotion to the pilot of the ship and complete disregard for his own safety, he repeatedly went back into the burning wreckage to try and rescue his fellow crewmen. Major Jerry was burned badly but seemed to be recovering when he developed pneumonia. On the day after Christmas, Major Jerry passed away, much to the sorrow of the men of the 14th squadron. The entire group missed seeing Major Jerry sitting in the pilots seat of Lt. Colonel Fredericks ship "Pellican Pappy" as it made its way around the station.
